Fasting One Day Weekly

March 4, 2015 By Alexander Writer 4 Comments

The word “fasting” has developed negative connotation.

People hear fasting and automatically think starvation and deprivation.

The reality is fasting is far from that.

Fasting has been a spiritual practice for many years in many countries,

Fasting has MANY benefits, both mentally and physically.

To begin with, you give your digestive system a break.

Our digestive systems are constantly at work.

Between breakfast, lunch, and dinner; you’re constantly breaking down food.

Giving your digestive system a break will allow it to heal itself.

As a result, you experience improved energy and clarity.

It helps your body eliminate toxins helping prevent any sickness in the future.

Fasting is even known to increase your immunity and provide anti-aging effects.

And of course, one of the best benefits of fasting one day weekly is weight-loss.

You create a HUGE calorie deficit for the week when you fast a whole day.

So the question now is, should you try it?

I know that when I fast, I feel great.

There’s no energy crashes throughout the day and I sleep great at night.

The difference is very noticeable.

“But how can I go a whole day without food? I’m going to be starving!”

The truth is fasting is a lot easier than you think.

It’s more mental than anything.

Once you make the decision of not eating for a day, it’s simple.

And the more you do it, the easier it becomes.

When fasting, you’re allowed to drink all the water and black coffee you like.

I’ve read that diet sodas are allowed as well, but I don’t recommend them because the artificial sweeteners make you VERY hungry.

I drink black coffee in the morning because it works as an appetite suppressant.

My advice is that you pick one designated day to fast every week.

Monday works well for me.

I feel fasting is a lot easier when I have work to do and keep my mind busy.

If you feel it’s too hard the first time, start with fasting half a day every Monday.

Just skip breakfast and have a late lunch.

You’ll see fasting one day weekly gets easier and easier.

Again, it’s more mental than anything and the benefits are well worth it.

Good luck!

    Pat,

I do 24 hours, more than that isn’t necessary, in my opinion. Yeah, you do lose up to 5 lbs., in some cases even more. Keep in mind that this is usually “water weight”, not actual body fat. Read my article on Why Weighing yourself is a Waste of Time for more information.

Try clearing your history and closing/reopening your browser. This happens from time to time, I just tested it and everything is working fine.
