When you went to bed last night, were you disappointed that you had to go to sleep?
Would you have wished you could have stayed up doing what you love?
Is what you do for a living so enjoyable that you LOVE and want to do it all day?
When you woke up this morning, did you hit the snooze button or did you jump out of bed with joy and excitement to get the day started?
Did you lay in bed last night before falling asleep thinking about all the great things you were going to get done today?
…or did you go to bed unsatisfied?
Knowing that today was just going to be another day?
Knowing that the rest of the week, month, and year was going to be the same?
The SAME job with the SAME people with the SAME lifestyle?
Wow…is that how life is meant to be lived?
People who love to sleep love it for a reason.
They’re unsatisfied.
Being asleep allows you to take a break from reality.
You get to shut your mind off and deviate from the unsatisfying routine.
Sleep momentarily frees your mind from the baggage and unhappiness you carry around.
But what happens when you absolutely LOVE your life?
When every moment is a joy?
When you actually enjoy what you do to make a living?
When going to sleep feels more like a necessity than a desire?
All of sudden, sleep isn’t as pleasurable as it use to be.
Don’t get me wrong, you’ll always NEED and ENJOY sleep.
You’re still human.
But the urge to stay in bed when you wake up in the morning tells you everything you need to know about how happy or dissatisfied you are.
If you’re waking up hitting the snooze button and in an unhappy state of mind…
It’s time to change something.
Ask yourself every day “How did you sleep?”.
Use it as a constant reminder to motivate yourself to take action.
You should be going to bed excited and waking up excited.

That’s a great “reality check” strategy you’re offering here. I never though about sleep in such way, but what you’re saying here actually makes sense…

Lately I have been going to sleep exhausted, but feeling very fulfilled, and waking up FUCKING EXCITED.

Andrew,
If that’s the case, I suggest you keep doing EXACTLY what you’re doing. Not too many people can say the same. Congrats!

Good advice, and if you’re not loving being awake, it’s time to make a change. Then again there’s nothing like a good nights rest after a hard days work. I think it has a lot to do with how much freedom you feel you have. I’ve lived in minimum wage hell for a long time, but last summer i started a small business with my buddy. All of a sudden, mornings weren’t so hard. People who are slow on mornings really irritate me, and now i think I know why. I just want to slap some sense into them lol.

Chris,
I can identify a lot with what you said. What’s great about how you feel in the morning is that it tells you exactly where you are in life. If you jump out of bed eager to start the day, things are going your way. However, like you mentioned, if you’re not loving being awake, then it’s time to make a change.
Regarding your comment on people who are slow in the mornings irritating you, this is because you know how great it is to wake up happy to get your day started and can’t understand why anyone would not CHOOSE to wake up the same way. This is where the whole “slap some sense into them” thing comes into play. Good comment, Chris. Thank you.
