How The Law of Attraction Really Works
I’m sure you’ve either seen the movie or read the book.
…and if you haven’t, I’m sure you’ve heard about it.
Released in 2006, The Secret was a huge success!
It’s a book that most people recommend to family and friends after reading it.
It’s filled with motivation and tips on how to attract the life you want.
The author Rhonda Byrne explains how her life was in turmoil and how she turned it around.
She achieved massive success following principles that successful people would.
In the book/movie, “the secret” is the law of attraction.
Rhonda and other successful people including Bob Proctor, Jack Canfield, and Joe Vitale share examples and stories on how they attracted success.
They go into detail on how you attract what you think and focus on the most.
The universe helps move you towards your goal.
As an example, let’s say I want to attract a new car.
I would get very specific about the car.
What model/make, year, and color I want.
Next, I would make it a habit to write it down in a journal 10 times first thing when waking up and 10 times right before going to sleep.
I would write it in a present tense as if I already owned the car.
Why present tense?
Because if you write “I want a new car“, that’s all you’ll ever attract, wanting a new car.
The effective way to write it would be:
I now drive a 2015 red corvette with black leather seats.
See the difference?
It’s very specific and present tense.
So what does this do? How does it work?
Let’s go back to The Secret…
It explains that when you focus on something, you brain sends out energy signals into the universe and in return it begins to moves things around to make it happen.
It will set up events, people, and circumstances in your life that will lead you to your goal.
Pretty cool, right?
Even though there is some truth to this, I am going to explain how it really works.
You have part in your brain called the RAS, or the reticular activating system.
This part of your brain works like a filter.
It records and presents all information it feels is important.
It also rejects and ignores what it feels is irrelevant. So how does it decide what information to keep and what information to ignore?
Simple!
Whatever you focus on the most is what it will show you.
If you’re constantly focusing on a 2015 red corvette, your RAS will begin to notice them everywhere!
You’ll notice them on the street and see things you didn’t before.
You’ll hear people talking about corvettes, the best time to buy, and where to go.
You’ll start seeing specials in magazines, newspapers, and the internet.
How does this happen?
Why is this all information there now?
Guess what, friend?…
It was ALWAYS there, but your RAS ignored it.
…it wasn’t important.
Let’s go back to writing your goal 10 times in the morning and at night.
Your subconscious-mind stores information best right when you wake up and before bed.
The subconscious-mind and RAS work together.
Whatever is repeated the most and stored in your subconscious is what the RAS looks for!
Why does writing down work best?
Writing down your goal engages all of your learning styles.
Physically, mentally, and emotionally you’re telling your subconscious-mind and RAS what to look for.
You move your hand as your write, you think about it as you’re writing, and you feel excited imagining it.
Listen to me when I tell you this: Writing down your goals is the best tool you can use to achieve them!
Does it make sense that your RAS will see your goal as important if you write it 20 times daily?
YES!
Let me share a story of how I used the law of attraction to start this blog.
I always knew I had great information and enjoyed sharing it with others.
I’m the guy my friends come to for advice on many aspects of life.
Whether it’s business, motivation, dating, or dieting; I have experience and knowledge in all areas.
My friends would joke that I should write a book one day.
They felt people would both enjoy and learn from what I had to say.
I felt it was a good idea but didn’t make it a priority.
…but one day, I decided to just go for it and start.
I didn’t know anything about blogging.
Hell, I didn’t even know where to go buy a domain or how to start a website.
What did I do?
I began writing in my journal daily the following goal:
“I now write a successful blog and help people all over the world with my advice and stories.”
Within the first week of writing my goal, things started happening!
Books, videos, and emails stood out to me on how to blog.
These things were always there, but my RAS would ignore them.
I attracted exactly how to start a blog.
…and so began my journey of writing great content that helps and motivates others all across the world.
Inertiawillhurtya.com was born…
It wasn’t even a month before I began receiving comments and emails from readers on how my content was great and how grateful they were to find my blog.
It’s really that simple.
You focus on what you want, you meditate on it a few times throughout the day, and you’ll attract it.
You meditate by closing your eyes for 10 seconds and imagining your goal.
If you want a new car, imagine yourself driving it.
Discipline yourself to do this hourly throughout the day.
Feel the car accelerate as you step on the gas, feel the steering wheel and look at the company logo in the center, look at yourself in the rear view mirror and I say “I love my new car! “.
Sounds silly and crazy?
Doesn’t matter, do it anyways!
It works!
Your friend,
Alex
