3 Reasons Why Shaving Your Back is Bad (and what to do instead)

3 Reasons Why Shaving Your Back is Bad

Chances are  you’re reading this because shaving your back hair is driving you crazy!

It’s a dreadful process that has to be done.

It takes time, patience, and caution.

You have to slowly and carefully glide the blade across your back to prevent cuts.

As if reaching around your back, bending, and stretching your arm wasn’t hard enough already.

Besides these undesirable things, there are three reasons why shaving your back is bad.

1) Skin Damage

The dragging of a razor across your back pulls on the hair and creates friction on the skin.

Since bacteria and dirt grow and reside on your razor, this leads to acne, rashes, and skin irritations.

Some people get skin irritations worse than others, some are lucky and don’t get any irritation at all.

…but for those that do, I know how uncomfortable it can be to take your shirt off in public.

Back irritations cause itching, burning, and even pain for some people.

A razor can also lead to cuts and scrapes.

Sometimes you don’t even notice you cut yourself until someone tells you ” Hey man, you have a blood stain on your shirt”.

2) Waste of Money

Investing in razors is a never endless cycle.

You shave your back, the hair regrows, you buy more razors.

You basically have a unspoken agreement with your razor’s company that you’ll continue to buy.

If you do the math and realize how much you spend on disposable razors annually, you’d seek a different solution.

Shaving your back also results in longer showers.

If you bathe with hot water, this results in a higher energy bill.

It probably won’t raise your energy bill by $100 dollars, but add the money spent on razor’s and the increase in energy bill, and you’ll realize it’s good money that you can be using on something else.

More water usage is another issue.

If you’re lucky that you don’t pay for water where you live, than this isn’t an issue.

…but if you do pay for water, you’ll notice a difference in your bill.

And let me mention that even if you don’t pay for water, you should seek to conserve it.

3) Time

Shaving your back is time consuming.

You turn a 10 minute shower into a 25 minute shower.

Shave, rinse the razor, repeat.

You do this over and over until your back is smooth and hairless.

Can you imagine if you had to shave your back daily?

What a nightmare!

What to do Instead

Many months of shaving my back and dealing with frustration, lead me to seek a better option.

I considered back waxing, but something about it didn’t convince me.

I don’t know if it was the amount of money they charge or the fact that it just seemed weird to me.

I sat down and thought about a different solution.

I focused on what the main issues: Skin damage, money, and time.

So I needed something that wouldn’t be tough on my skin, lasted longer than a few shaves, and would get the job done quicker.

I was asking for a lot, but hey, life is about making things easier and working smarter, not harder.

I discovered the peanut hair trimmer.

The peanut is one of the most popular hair trimmers used by barbers all over the world.

It works great at shaving those hard to reach hairs and providing a clean hairless look.

I learned online that people would use the peanut for all parts of their body.

Head, chest, legs, face, and most importantly, their back!

People went bananas for it and talked about how it would easily and quickly cut hair.

I decided to invest in my own peanut.

…and boy was I glad I did.

It came in the mail, I opened the package, and plugged it into the wall outlet.

I ran it across my wrist to test it on a small area.

Right there and then, after my first test, razor’s were dead to me.

I have NEVER and will EVER use another razor again!

The peanut cuts hair so quick and easy that it’s just plain ludicrous to use a razor.

I immediately took my shirt off and ran it across my back.

The hair was falling off like leaves in autumn, peacefully and easy.

There was no need to push down on the skin like I use to with a razor.

I ran it all over my back and easily shaved all the hair off.

My back looked clean, non-irritated, and healthy.

I will admit that it took me about 15 minutes the first time I used it.

…but I got quicker and better each time and now I shave my whole back in 5 minutes!

Practice makes perfect!

No more razor’s, no more water and energy use, and best of all, no more unnecessary time wasted.

The peanut paid for itself overtime since I no longer have to buy razors.

I use it on my back, chest, neck area, and face.3 Reasons Why Shaving Your Back is Bad

It provides an amazing close shave.

I recommend you take a shower after using it to wash off hair and properly clean your skin.

Start with hot water to open up pores and finish with cold to close them.

This will prevent bacteria or dirt from entering your skin.

If you want to save time, money, and frustration, I recommend you give the peanut a try.

You can get your own peanut at Amazon.

Hi Alex, good you found a solution. To be honest while I was reading through this post I thought you were going to suggest laser treatment. That’s the solution that worked for me. It is slightly expensive but luckily the results are permanent.

Maybe it’s something you would like to look into 👍
