“Have you ever noticed that a person who becomes successful tends to continue to become more successful? And, on the other hand, have you noticed how someone who’s a failure tends to continue to fail?”
The Strangest Secret Review
That was the part in the strangest secret that got me fired up and motivated me to replay it.
I thought to myself, “Yes, I have noticed that! “.
I’ve noticed it my whole life.
This goes with the famous saying “The richer get richer and the poorer get poorer”.
At this point, Earl Nightingale had 100% of my attention as he developed my curiosity.
“What’s wrong with men today?…Men simply don’t think“
The strangest secret is known as one of the most vital personal developments recordings for people who want to achieve success in anything.
The recording explains that success is so simple that for some weird reason it remains a secret.
“This is The Strangest Secret! Now, why do I say it’s strange, and why do I call it a secret? Actually, it isn’t a secret at all. It was first promulgated by some of the earliest wise men, and it appears again and again throughout the Bible. But very few people have learned it or understand it. That’s why it’s strange, and why for some equally strange reason it virtually remains a secret.”
The strangest secret is that you become what you think about.
I’ve listened to this personal development recording more than any other I own.
It’s fantastic!
It gets straight to the point and explains why some people are successful and others not.
“People with goals succeed because they know where they’re going. It’s that simple. Failures, on the other hand, believe that their lives are shaped by circumstances … by things that happen to them … by exterior forces.”
Earl Nightingale helps you understand that success isn’t something that you just stumble upon.
Success is the result of having a goal and constantly focusing on it.
He gives a powerful 30 day exercise that deeply ingrains your goal in your mind.
This assures that it becomes your reality.
Worrying About The “How”
People constantly focus on the “how”.
How will I achieve my goal?…
How will I learn what I need to learn?…
Where do I start?…
As a result, a lot of people don’t take action since they have so many doubts and uncertainties.
Earl Nightingale explains that worrying about the “how” is totally unnecessary.
The answers will come to you on their own as long as you focus on exactly what it is you want and follow the exercise he provides.
This part of the audio recording stood out to me the most because it makes perfect sense.
If you don’t know how to do something, how likely are you to take action?
That’s where “the strangest secret” comes into play.
You don’t need to know how; you just need faith that you will be shown the way.
Stop Thinking About What You Fear
Earl Nightingale touches on how some people allow their negative thoughts to rule their lives.
He advises that every time you catch yourself thinking a negative thought, to immediately replace it with the goal you want to achieve.
I didn’t expect this exercise to be as powerful when I first read it, and honestly, I didn’t understand why or how it would work.
However, once I began doing it, I immediately understood the reason behind it.
If you program yourself to immediately replace a negative thought with your goal, and on top of that you’re focusing on your goal daily using the exercise he provides; eventually your goal becomes the prominent thought in your mind.
I wrote an article that explains how the RAS part of your brain uses your most dominant thought to make it your reality.
This is why Earl Nightingale mentions to stop thinking about what you fear.
If you constantly focus on what could go wrong, it becomes your prominent thought and it’s what you’ll receive.
All Day Every Day
Every time I caught myself thinking negatively, I would repeat my goal.
If I thought “I’m tired “, I would replace it with my goal.
If I thought “This traffic is terrible”, I would replace it with my goal.
What started happening was interesting.
Every time I would think about my goal, I would feel good.
I felt like I was getting closer and closer to it, like it was becoming part of me.
Over time, I programmed myself to replace negative thoughts with positive ones.
What was the result?
I became a more optimistic person and was eventually lead to my goal.
This allowed me to develop faith.
I have now moved on to greater goals.
By following the exercise and replacing negative thoughts with your goal, you leave your mind no choice but to achieve whatever it is that you want.
Discipline
Earl Nightingale explains that the only difficult part of success is having the discipline to focus on your goal daily until it becomes your reality.
We are creatures of habits.
We simply don’t do or forget something that isn’t a habit, even if it’s as simple as focusing on a goal.
Habits occur on their own; we don’t have to think about them.
Why do you brush your teeth every morning (at least I hope you do), because it’s a habit.
Why do you eat the type of food that you eat on the regular?
Again, it’s all habit.
Earl Nightingale provides you motivation, examples, and techniques on how to create the habit of focusing on your goal so that you achieve it.
I personally enjoy the recording because there is no “filler”.
Every sentence in the recording either educates or motivates.
I’ve listened to it so many times that I can say the words along with Earl Nightingale.
I recommend you listen to it in your car while driving and at night before bed.
“Take this 30-day test, then repeat it … then repeat it again. Each time it will become more a part of you until you’ll wonder how you could have ever have lived any other way. Live this new way and the floodgates of abundance will open and pour over you more riches than you may have dreamed existed. Money? Yes, lots of it. But what’s more important, you’ll have peace … you’ll be in that wonderful minority who lead calm, cheerful, successful lives.” -Earl Nightingale
