I love coffee.
I have it daily without question.
How about you?
If you’re reading this, it’s likely that you love coffee too.
And you’re probably doing (or are interested in) the keto diet.
Right?
So how do you order “keto coffee” at Starbucks?
Simple.
You order it black with heavy whipping cream.
That’s it.
You can have it hot or iced.
As long as you ONLY add heavy whipping cream, you’ll be fine.
This might sound boring if you’re use to adding sugar or other sweeteners to your coffee.
Many people on keto will say that “sugar-free syrups” are acceptable.
I don’t agree.
To be the strongest soldier on the keto field, you must eliminate your need and desire for sugar.
Period.
That means absolutely ZERO artificial sweeteners.
Why?
Because they’re extremely unhealthy and defeat the whole purpose of the keto diet.
This brings me to my next point…
Why are artificial sweeteners bad for keto?
They trigger appetite and make you crave sugar.
Artificial sweeteners trick your body into thinking it’s getting sugar.
When your body starts digesting food and doesn’t find any sugar, it fights back and says:
“You sneaky bastard, you tricked me. Just for that, I’m going to SKYROCKET your appetite until you give me sugar!”.
Studies have shown that many people who drink diet sodas made with artificial sweeteners are actually HEAVIER than people who drink regular soda.
How’s that possible?
Because artificial sweeteners SPIKE their appetite.
The result?
They eat more.
If you truly want to experience the benefits of the keto diet, YOU MUST GO ALL IN!
Don’t seek shortcuts or ways to beat the system.
Either go FULL KETO or choose a different eating style.
“But Alex, Jimmy from the gym drinks 17 Coke Zero’s every day and he’s on Keto”.
That’s good for Jimmy.
I’m not here to judge or tell anyone what’s right and wrong.
I’m here to share my opinion.
What you do after reading this article is up to YOU.
But I can guarante you one thing…
Anyone who drinks that much diet soda every day does it for one reason: To keep fighting their appetite.
The more diet soda or any other beverages with artificial sweeteners you consume, the more your body will demand sugar.
Unless you want to drown your body in artificial sweeteners every day so you can fight your appetite, you must cut out all sugar and artificial sweeteners.
Answer me this…
Are you serious about keto?
Are you serious about burning body fat?
Are you serious about improving your moods and overall happiness?
Yes?
Good.
Here’s why you’re going to order your coffee black with heavy whipping cream at Starbucks.
Why black coffee with heavy whipping cream is the best option at Starbucks for keto
To begin, it doesn’t have carbohydrates.
The whole purpose of the keto diet is to consume less than 20 carbohydrates per day.
Heavy whipping cream has zero carbohydrates per tablespoon.
However, you must order your coffee with “light” heavy whipping cream.
Why?
Because a lot of Starbucks baristas will FLOOD your coffee in heavy whipping cream.
This shoots your calories through the roof and increases your total carbohydrates.
“But Alex, you just said that heavy whipping cream doesn’t have carbohydrates.”
You’re right, my friend…I’m glad you’re paying attention.
The reality is that a tablespoon of heavy whipping cream has a small amount of carbohydrates.
So small in fact that it’s negligible amount.
But!
When you drown your coffee in it, the negligible amount adds up.
A cup of heavy whipping cream has 821 calories and 6 grams of carbohydrates.
While 6 grams of carbohydrates won’t exactly ruin your keto progress, those 821 calories might.
Trust me that you do NOT need a whole cup of heavy whipping cream in your coffee.
All you need is 2 tablespoons max which amounts to 100 calories and about 1 carbohydrate.
I’ve ordered my coffee with heavy whipping cream at Starbucks and had to request to change it because what they gave me looked like a cup of milk.
Do you know how much heavy whipping cream it takes to make a cup of coffee look like a cup of milk?
I rest my case.
While 6 grams of carbohydrates isn’t going to hurt your progress, drinking 821 calories might.
Some say calories don’t matter on keto, others say they do.
My opinion?
You can definitely eat more food on keto, but eating an exaggerated amount of calories won’t help your progress.
I personally don’t measure my food or count calories.
Honestly, I don’t have time for that.
I want an eating lifestyle where I don’t constantly worry about how much I eat or drive around carrying prepared meals like a delivery man.
So what’s the moral of the story?
Next time you’re at Starbucks, order a grande black coffee with light heavy whipping cream.
This will curb your appetite, boost your metabolism (a little) and provide a feeling of happiness and focus that comes from drinking coffee.

Dutch Bros here is a chain with a Keto Coffee you can order. Northwest has a lot of BS, but diet menu items are on point.
