Ever heard someone say “Even a broken clock is right twice a day?”
I first heard it in a show I used to watch, The Sopranos.
I instantly became curious with the meaning behind it.
The literal meaning is obvious.
A broken clock is in fact right twice a day.
If a clock is broken and stuck at 3; everyday at 3am and 3pm, it’ll display the correct time.
…No argument there.
But what was the metaphor?
What did it mean exactly?
After some research, I learned it refers to success obtained through dumb luck.
In other words, success that happens solely because the person was in the right place at the right time.
Eventually by luck or chance, success can and will happen.[bctt tweet=”Eventually by luck or chance, success can and will happen.”]
Even a person who is not usually a success, can suddenly and unexpectedly have a shining moment.
Let’s use a story as example.
Let’s say you had a job and were in the middle of a team meeting.
You’re not usually an initiator of new ideas, solutions to problems, and innovations.
However, during this meeting you suggest a new idea that goes unexpectedly well.
Then you go back to your old ways and never contribute new ideas and so on.
Guess what -You’re an example that even a broken clock is right twice a day.
You got lucky once.
Why is this important and what does it mean to your success?
EVERYTHING!
What’s the one thing I always preach about…
People are NOT consistent long enough to experience success.[bctt tweet=”People are NOT consistent long enough to experience success.”]
Just because they make mistakes they act/feel as if they’ll never succeed.
Little do they know that as long as they’re persistent, they’ll eventually “get lucky.”
…No matter how dumb they feel/believe they are or how much knowledge they actually lack.
A broken clock is unintentionally persistent and as a result, it’s right twice a day.
This means YOU have to intentionally be persistent so you’re eventually right and experience success.
Are you following me?
Someone who may usually be unreliable or provide false or shaky information can still be right sometimes.[bctt tweet=”Someone who may usually be unreliable or provide false or shaky information can still be right sometimes.”]
It’s usually on rare occasions, but it does happen.
And when it comes to your success, it doesn’t matter when it happens.
All that matters is that it DOES HAPPEN.
Right?
Every single successful person I’ve studied has this one quality in common: Persistence
And trust me, my friend…I’ve studied a LOT of them.
I’ve studied athletes, business people, presidents, actors, musicians, and so on.
And after putting all the pieces together, I am 100% confident that this is how success works.
As long as you keep going, you’ll eventually hit success right on target.
And here’s the secret….
Keep doing the same thing.
Keep going after the same goal.
Make up your mind about ONE thing and stick to it until you get it right.
You’ll see how eventually you will indeed get it right.
Take a look at this blog.
I made the decision that I was going to build it and jam-pack it with quality articles and digital products to offer people.
I didn’t know a damn thing about blogging, writing eBooks, offering them for sale, and so on.
But no matter how clueless I was, I knew that eventually I would get lucky as long as I was persistent.
Little by little, success arrived.
Now people email me telling me how much my content helps them.
Now I get emails telling my I’ve been paid for affiliate sales.
Now I get notifications on my phone everytime I sell an eBook.
Now I have over 200 articles and 3 eBooks available for sale with a 4th one coming 2/1/16.
Listen to me…
You don’t need to know anything! You will figure it out! Just keep moving forward!
Apply what you learn.
If it works, great!
If it doesn’t, try something else!
Don’t ask me how or why this works.
All I can tell you is that it does and that’s all that matters.
Eventually, you’ll stumble upon an idea that you can implement and immediately be successful.
In the book Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill explains how when success happens, it arrives in massive quantities.
In other words, someone can be selling only one copy of their eBook every month and all of sudden start selling thousands of copies.
Nothing can guarantee success like persistence can.
I say it all the time because it’s the most important thing anyone can teach you.
You have to keep going and going and going and going.
…And going.
Don’t worry, it’ll all be worth it at the end.
The moral of the story is that if you don’t give up, eventually, by dumb luck as they say, you will succeed.
And that, my friend, is something that every successful person will agree with me on.
A broken clock will always be right twice a day.
A person who is persistent will eventually get lucky and succeed.
You’ll NEVER find a person who doesn’t quit and fails.[bctt tweet=”You’ll NEVER find a person who doesn’t quit and fails.”]
Read that last sentence again out loud and think about it.
Talk soon,
-Alex
