I keep getting requests to write a “How to make money on the internet” article.
Well, my friends, your wish is my command.
I’m going to show you the REAL and HONEST way to make money online.
At the end of this article, you’ll have two choices:
1) Take action and make money
2) Take zero action and get nothing
Choose wisely.
Before we go any further, there’s one thing you must know.
What you’re about to learn will require you to work.
If you’re not willing to put in the time and do the work, stop reading RIGHT NOW!
Save your time.
Still here?
Good.
Let’s get started.
The Basics
You must develop the following mindset:
“I help people without asking for anything in return.”
Yes, your goal is to make money on the internet.
We’ve established that.
Guess what?
No one cares.
People won’t help you unless you help them first without asking for a penny.
Pay close attention to what I’m about to say…
You’ll NEVER make money, REAL money, on the internet if your primary focus is to make money.
Why?
Because the only way to make money is by gaining trust.
How do you gain trust?
“But Alex, how will I make money if I solve problems for free?”
Easy.
People will throw their money at you in exchange for products you sell on your website when they trust you. (More on this later)
For now keep in mind that helping people is your primary goal.
Making money online is a result of helping people.
Got it?
Let’s continue.
How Making Money on The Internet Works
You must create a website with articles that solve problems.
People search for answers to their problems on the internet.
Usually on Google.
If your website has an article related to their search, a quality article, it will most likely appear in Google’s search results.
People will click on your article, read it and get their problem solved.
Beautiful.
Instantly, two things will happen:
1) You gain their trust
2) You leave them hungry for more
The moment you help someone, especially if it’s for free, you’re INSTANTLY perceived as someone who can get them results.
Read that last sentence again.
Remember what I said earlier?
Gaining trust is how you make money on the internet.
When you help someone for free, they trust you and also feel obligated to reciprocate.
I learned this in the classic book, Influence.
Robert Cialdini explains how POWERFUL reciprocity can be.
So before we go any further, repeat the following 100 times: “I solve problems and help people for free.”
Start a Website
This one is obvious.
However, it’s what 99.9% of people don’t do.
They spend hours searching for ways to make money but never actually start a website.
Before you do anything, you MUST start a website.
I don’t take anyone seriously who emails me for help without having a website.
It tells me that they’re looking for the easy way to make money on the internet.
The “get rich quick” schemes.
That’s not my style.
If you want my help, start a website first.
There are countless tutorials available online.
I show you how to do it inside my book.
Starting a website will cost you less than $30.
Not willing to invest a few bucks?
Stop reading now.
Come back when you’re serious.
Don’t worry about the design of your website.
That comes later.
It’s pointless to invest in a design without having any content or traffic.
It’s like having a fancy store without any customers…What’s the point?
Once you begin getting traffic, invest in a nice theme like the one I use on this website, Metrotheme from StudioPress.
The theme is $100 and is worth every penny.
But save your money until you start getting traffic.
The most important thing right now is starting your website and creating content.
This brings me to my next point.
Create content
Once you’ve started your website, immediately start feeding it content.
The more content you create, the more traffic you’ll get and the more money you’ll make.
Want to make a lot of money?
Write a lot of quality articles.
Want to limit your earning potential?
Stop writing.
It’s really that easy.
Make the commitment that you’re going to write for the rest of your life.
As long as my heart is pumping blood, I’ll always be working on my next article.
Come back in 5, 10, and 20 years from now.
I guarantee you that this blog will still be around.
What should you write about?
Life.
People don’t just come to your website for an answer, they also come for a story.
Don’t just show me how to do something.
Tell me your story!
Educate and entertain me.
That’s the key to a successful blog.
People don’t just care about how you got your results.
They want to know when and why you applied what you’re teaching them.
Reading a “how to” article and then copying it on your website isn’t going to make you rich.
But reading a “how to” article, applying it and sharing your story will FLOOD your bank account with money.
Trust me.
What do you think I do to make money?
You think I know some magic formula or money making secret?
No, my friend.
All I do is learn, apply, and share my story on this website.
Every article you write must educate and entertain.
If it lacks either, don’t publish it.
Work on it until it’s ready.
Create and sell eBooks relevant to your content
Your website visitors will obviously be interested in the topics you write about.
To make money, you’ll need to sell a product.
The best product to create are eBooks that are relevant to your content.
Why?
Because you create them once and they’ll make you money FOREVER.
I show you how to create eBooks in this article.
Create eBooks that are worth $100 and sell them for $9.99.
Just like in the The Godfather, make people an offer they can’t refuse.
Why $9.99?
I sell all my eBooks for $9.99.
Each one them is worth a lot more.
They are JAM-PACKED with value and deliver their promised results.
But why do I sell them at $9.99?
To keep my sales HIGH.
This website gets new readers every day.
New readers don’t know me.
How much do you trust someone you don’t know?
Exactly.
Even though my articles are helpful, some people still need the extra motivation to buy.
Since $9.99 is so low-risk, new visitors take their chances and buy my books.
The copywriting and presentation in my sales letters also helps.
But more than anything, it’s the $9.99 price that keeps the money flooding in.
Just about anyone can afford $9.99.
And if it’s something they REALLY want, they’ll pay the $9.99 with no problem.
Never forget that.
Create Quality Content That Ranks High in Google
Google will rank your content high in their search results if it’s good quality.
That means more traffic and money for you.
What exactly is quality content?
It must have six things:
- 1,500 words minimum
- short sentences
- no typos
- paragraph headings
- Images (1 minimum)
- engaging
Let’s go over these in detail.
-
1,500 words
After blogging for close to five years and publishing over 400 articles, I’ve learned that 1,500 words seems to be the sweet spot for articles to rank high in Google.
Don’t ask me why because I don’t know.
Google doesn’t reveal all the reasons how and why they rank content.
Therefore, I can only speak from experience.
My experience proves that anything less than 1,500 words doesn’t rank well.
Does this mean that you should go far beyond 1,500 words?
Not exactly.
Keep in mind that people have short attention spans.
In today’s day and age, people are looking for a quick answer.
They’re willing to read 1,500 words of quality content.
Your goal is to edit your content as much as you can.
This allows you to communicate your message in as few words as possible.
Read my article How to Write Clean and Easy to Read Articles.
-
Short sentences
Like I said, people have short attention spans.
Articles with huge paragraphs make people think “Wow, this is A LOT of work!”.
Break up your articles into short sentences.
Not only will it make reading your articles easier, but it will keep your readers engaged.
Engaged readers spend more time on your website.
Here’s another secret: Google ranks content depending on how long a reader spends on a page.
If the majority of people who come to your website leave within 5 seconds, what does that tell Google?
You content sucks.
But if people spend a lot of time on your article, it signals to Google that your content is good.
Makes sense?
So how do you make your content good?
Jam-pack it with valuable information and edit.
Cut out any unnecessary words and keep it as close to 1,500 words as possible.
-
No typos
How many typos have you found on this article?
None.
That’s because I edited and proofread it numerous times.
If your article has a lot of typos, no one will take you seriously.
A typo here and there is no big deal.
But a ton of typos makes your content appear as if a kid wrote it.
Would you take advice from a kid?
No.
Typos are distracting and demotivating.
There’s no way you can inspire or help people with your words if many of them are misspelled.
-
Paragraph headings
Paragraph headings structure your content.
Readers can quickly skim your article to get an idea of what they’ll learn.
It also allows them to locate the section they want to immediately learn about or read a second time.
Paragraph headings tell Google that your content is structured, neat and good quality.
Why do you think I use them in all of my articles?
-
Images
A lot of people are visual.
Pictures help them understand what they’re learning.
You don’t have to turn your article into a collage, but include 1-2 pictures relevant to your article’s topic.
Some people search Google Images when searching for answers.
If you link your article to the image, you’ll get more traffic.
-
Engaging
Writing a 1,500 word article that’s broken up into short sentences without typos, includes paragraph headings, images, and is engaging is what it takes to make money on the internet.
That’s the whole secret.
You might think that there are tricks that no one will share with you, but there isn’t.
If it’s that easy, why don’t more people succeed with making money online.
Simple.
They either don’t believe it’s possible so they never start or they do start but quit too soon.
Learn marketing, persuasion and copywriting
These are skills that will make you a TON of money.
By learning marketing, persuasion and copywriting, you SKYROCKET your earning potential.
I personally didn’t know a damn thing about any of the above.
But I learned.
I didn’t buy some copywriting course for $1,000.
That’s silly.
Instead, I read the classic books below:
By applying what I learned in these books, combined with my own discoveries that I teach you inside my book, I’ve literally made thousands of dollars on the internet.
If you’re SERIOUS about making money on the internet, you must invest in your knowledge and learn from the pro’s.
Take a look at the sales letters for my books here.
Study them.
Each sales letter is extremely persuasive.
All I did was apply what I learned in the books above.
Do you think I regret spending a few bucks?
Hell no.
Those few bucks spent allowed me to earn thousands in return.
Invest in your knowledge.
Learn.
Apply.
Make money.
Questions?
Master the skill of gentle advertising
All your articles must include a link to one of your eBooks.
If you skip this step, you’re leaving money on the table.
You won’t find one article of mine that doesn’t link to one of my eBooks.
Always include a link to your eBooks within your content and at the end. (Like I did in this article)
Don’t enable any pop-ups of your eBooks.
This distracts and annoys the reader.
Instead, do what I call gentle advertising.
Basically just mention your eBooks so that your readers know they’re available.
They’ll click on your books to learn more if you’re content is good and motivates them.
No need to force them to buy your eBooks with pop-ups.
Pop-ups come across as desperate attempts to make sales.
Like I said, if your content is good, your readers will be hungry for more and click on your eBook links.
Become an Amazon Affiliate
Being an Amazon affiliate is one of the EASIEST ways to make money online.
Just like your eBooks, all you do is mention a product in your articles and link to it.
People will click your links, buy on Amazon, and you’ll make commission.
You make commission off ANYTHING people buy after clicking your Amazon link.
So if someone clicks an Amazon link on your website and buys 100 products, you get commission for those 100 products.
You can begin earning thousands of dollars every month with Amazon alone.
But this takes time, discipline and commitment.
It isn’t going to happen overnight.
The more articles you write, the more people will read them, click on your links and possibly buy something on Amazon.
You don’t have to be a genius to understand how this works.
All you do is simply drive traffic to Amazon’s site.
Imagine if you put in the time and created 1,000 articles that got 100 visits per day.
That’s 100,000 visits per day!
Imagine if each of those articles contained an Amazon affiliate link, as well as a link to one of your eBooks.
Do the math. $$$
Now I ask you…
How many people do you know who’ve actually created 1,000 quality articles?
I’ve been writing for 5 years and have only created 442 articles.
I can only imagine how my bank account will look once I reach 1,000.
I’m patiently working and waiting.
Will you?
Read these books for extreme motivation and discipline
Patience
Last but not least is patience.
You’re not going to begin making money overnight.
Even if you worked 24 hours a day, you won’t begin making money as fast as you’d like.
It takes time to create quality content and eBooks.
Accept that you won’t make money at the beginning.
Just do what I just taught you and make the decision to never quit.
Everything I showed you in this article is exactly what I do to continue making money day after day.
Study my blog and you’ll see that there are no secrets.
I simply create quality content and include links to my eBooks and Amazon affiliate links in each of them.
It’s the EASIEST formula in the world, but most people are not patient enough or don’t have the self-belief that they can do it too.
Are you most people?
I hope not.

Alex,
Amazing stuff as usual. Helping others is the reason I still fool with my blog and YouTube channel.
Speaking of, I started my football video game blog almost four years ago that has turned into focusing on my YouTube channel. Since I am teaching others the nuances of one game, it is naturally easier to learn for others to watch what I do instead of reading. i currently have over 300 videos so I treat each one a blog post. The blog is where I keep my reference-related items, including my four books. That is how I make my money. I have a small dedicated group of followers.
I know my niche is too small compared to what you cover but I feel like I still need to keep creating content and writing more books. Do you agree, even if my niche has a low ceiling?
Thanks
Alexander Writer says
Never stop creating content. Period. The day you stop writing is the day you limit your earning potential. Be careful with books though. You don’t want to bombard your readers with too many buying options.
Al says
Thanks for the advice.
I believe that even if I created a blog similar to yours, have 1,000 posts with 1,500 words in each, wrote several books and it still failed to replace my full-time income, it sure beats the idea of of a side job that doesn’t help anyone and pays way less.
At least a blog can help others.
Of course I would hope creating a blog of that magnitude would yield better results than that.

I stumbled across a niche site blog and they were charging $500 for their course on how to start a successful blog/niche site and I guarantee you 90% of that program is stuff you’ve already covered for free here. I can’t imagine charging people that much info that is free all over the internet.
Alexander Writer says
Scam artist You probably won’t findany reviews for their product.

Your website is a hidden gem. Got a jump rope recently thanks to your website and have a routine that I do every other day of 30 sec on 30 sec off and the fat is falling off at my feet. I just graduated from college and live at home and because quite depressed because I couldn’t get into grad school the first time around and was let go from my part time. I know this will take at least a year for me to make 100 dollars a day, however, I don’t have any expenses right now. Thanks a lot.
Alexander Writer says
That comment made my day, B. Glad my content inspires you!

Hey Alex,
Since Amazon is cutting down their affiliate commissions across every niche, and big corporate companies dominate Google’s search results, things are trickier for blogs nowadays.
Would you still say blogs are great for making money? I figure if you use it as a hub, and make it really great, word-of-mouth could still be a solid launch pad. I wanted to hear from someone who’s actually doing well in the business though.
