“Make sure you reward yourself”
Rewarding yourself when pursuing your goals is good advice.
Right?
I don’t think so.
Rewarding yourself unconsciously tells your conscious mind that you’re done.
It’s a form of celebration.
Therefore, the work must be done.
And that’s exactly why it’s a bad idea to rest in the middle.
Think about it…
Do athletes celebrate after winning a regular season game?
No.
They celebrate if and when they win a championship.
Sure, they high-five their teammates after a win, but the REAL celebration is postponed until the work is done.
When is the work done?
That’s right, when the goal is reached.
And that’s why YOU should rest at the end.
Don’t celebrate or deviate from your goals until they’re accomplished.
Doing so will hurt your momentum.
It will make getting back on track difficult.
What do you want the most right now?
What’s a reasonable goal that you could achieve in the next 30 days?
Maybe you can shed off 15 pounds of fat.
Maybe you can read a kick-ass motivational book like Unf*ck Yourself that will light a fire under your ass and get you moving FAST towards something that you’ve always wanted.
Whatever you decide isn’t important.
What is important is that you start today and not take a day off until you get what you want.
“Resting” is a reward you acquire once the work is done.
Don’t cheat the system and don’t cheat yourself.
Don’t over complicate things.
Don’t overthink.
When you’re done reading this article in the next 10 seconds, close your eyes and ask yourself what do you want in the next 30 days.
Then immediately start working towards it.
And remember…
Rest at the end…
Not in the middle.
Period.
Talk soon,
-Alex

Really missed your site and like all your content…
Turned 50 in January and weigh what I did in high school. About 5 pounds from being ripped!
Glad your back.
