Have You Studied Your Marketing?
In order to succeed and communicate properly to your audience, you need to know them.
What do they like?
What do they hate?
What are their fears, frustrations, needs, and wants?
Marketing, sales, and business is incredibly easy.
Easy not meaning that it doesn’t require work.
Easy meaning that if you do things the right way, the success will follow.
How do you create effective marketing?
You study your target market.
And by study I don’t mean you tell me whether their male or female.
By study I mean that you answer all the questions I just mentioned above.
Business is learning what your audience needs or wants, and then giving it to them.
Easy?
Yes.
Do people do it?
No.
What’s a common mistake marketers and sales people commit?
They think they know what their audience wants and needs.
What ends up happening?
Low conversion rates.
You can’t just guess or go with what “feels right”.
You have to study your marketing.
Are the words you’re using effectively communicating your message to your audience?
Do they feel that your product or service will help them?
If you currently have an online product or service with weak sales, I would suggest you take a closer look at your marketing.
Something in there is not convincing your audience that you can help them.
A fantastic book to read on the subject is Ca$hvertising by Drew Eric Whitman.
It was recommended to me when I first started studying marketing and it provides amazing examples of both effective and ineffective marketing.
My favorite example was one where Drew illustrates how changing just one word in an ad drastically improved its sales.
It was that example that motivated me to learn as much as possible about marketing.
This way I can create a great product/service and convince my audience that it’ll help them.
Of course, no marketing is perfect.
No marketing will convert 100 percent of the time.
However, if you study you’re audience properly, and make minor changes, you’ll experience a noticeable increase in conversions and sales.
Remember, just because your marketing is effective doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be successful forever.
If your service or product doesn’t deliver, people will know about it.
Things like negative reviews and word of mouth will hurt your success.
Therefore, you must do both:
1) Create a fantastic product or service
2) Study you marketing
Everything else will take care of itself.
