Ever heard of a self-limiting belief?
In case you haven’t, it’s a belief about yourself that YOU created.
Whatever you or someone around you repeats often becomes your reality.
There have been studies were prisoners where asked about their childhoods and many said that their parents constantly told them they wouldn’t amount to much in life and end up in jail.
Unfortunately, that’s what they were programmed to believe.
Their mind began to see and engage in opportunities which led them to end up in jail.
Your brain records and believes everything you tell it.
Imagine your brain as a sponge that sucks up everything you see, hear, or think.
If you repeat to yourself 50 times daily for five years that you are confident, that’s what you’ll see and feel when you look in the mirror.
People will also perceive you as confident due to the way you carry yourself.
Sounds simple enough, right?
Repeat something over and over, and it becomes your reality.
The good news is that you can program yourself to believe anything you want.
The bad news is that it’s hard.
Why is it hard?
We are creatures of habit.
Sure, any one can say, “for the next 30 days, I am going to repeat to myself that I am confident.”
The question is will you actually do it.
You have to force yourself to do something over and over until you begin to do it unconsciously.
That’s how a belief is created; you repeat or hear it so often that it just becomes real.
Here’s an article I wrote about how to create a habit that actually sticks.
It’s very easy to say that you’re going to do something, but actually following through and doing it requires discipline.
You can have all the success in the world that you deserve.
…but if you’re not programmed to, you won’t.
If you have a belief lurking around your subconscious-mind that you cannot start a business…Guess what?
You won’t.
If you begin to repeat to yourself daily “I am a successful business owner”, soon you’ll begin to see opportunities everywhere on how to start a business.
Your mind will begin to notice things it didn’t before.
What does this do?
It not only motivates you to take action, but makes you believe that you can in fact start a business.
You have to make a conscious effort to feed your mind ONLY healthy things.
Stay away from the news, stop listening to sad and depressing music, spend less time with negative people, and most importantly, pay close attention to what YOU say to yourself on a daily basis.
Your mind controls you!
The only way to take advantage of it is to feed it healthy things that will make you a happier and better person.
Step out of your comfort zone and force yourself to repeat affirmations daily so that you can begin to shape your mind to become the person you want.
For every negative thought or comment you catch yourself thinking or saying, quickly replace it with a positive one and repeat it 10 times.
As an example, I’m on the way to the gym and I catch myself thinking:
“I’ve had a long day and am tired, I should skip the gym today.”
I’ll replace it with:
“I feel great and will feel even better after the gym!”
…and repeat it 10 times.
Take control of your mind before it controls you for the rest of your life.
