The Power of One More
When it comes down to losing weight or getting stronger, you MUST be patient.
It takes time!
Pushing yourself past the point of exhaustion to attain quicker results isn’t going to do you any good.
You’ll risk or attain a serious injury.
However, here’s a simple trick I learned to bring you faster results in a healthy way.
I call it the power of one more.
And it works like this…
Whatever exercise you do, perform one more minute or rep each week.
For example...
If you jog 30 minutes daily, try 31 minutes next week.
And then 32 minutes the week after that.
If you do 100 push-ups daily, do 101 next week, and so on.
What does this do?
How does it work?
First of all, it’s such a small increase in exercise that your mind doesn’t consider it “tough”.
Our minds are very powerful.
A lot of our strength and endurance is psychological.
I heard a story of a guy claiming there was no way he could bench press 250 lbs.
Someone told him they were putting 220 lbs. on the bar.
With the mindset of lifting 220 lbs., he lifted 250 lbs. for 8 reps!
That’s right…
The same guy claiming there was no way he could lift 250 lbs., did so 8 times.
The power of one more isn’t considered challenging by your mind.
If you did 100 reps last week, you know you’ll do one more with no problem.
After all, it’s only one more.
Doing one more doesn’t seem like a lot in the moment.
Meanwhile, something great is happening.
With each workout, you’re getting a little stronger and better.
In 10 weeks you’ll be doing 10 more reps or jogging 10 more minutes.
You’re making steady and consistent progress without risking exhaustion or injury.
Try the power of one more and you’ll see for yourself just how fast small progress adds up!
