If you would’ve told me a few months ago to adopt a high fat diet, I would’ve asked you if you wanted me to die.
Since everyone (including you and me) has been brainwashed into believing that eating fat makes you fat, this style of eating is considered INSANE!
Eat more fat to lose fat?
You must be crazy!
Well…
According to recent research, eating fat does not make you fat.
In fact, it actually helps you lose weight, increases testosterone and improves your moods.
…And those are just a few of the benefits.
Let’s go over the reasons why YOU should give the keto diet a try.
You know what?
Scratch that.
Let’s go over why you should make it a lifestyle!
What exactly is the keto diet?
You eat high fat, moderate protein and low carbohydrates.
It’s that simple.
70% of your daily calories should come from fat, 20% come from protein, and 10% from carbohydrates.
Ideally, you shouldn’t eat more than 20 carbs. per day for best results.
But, if you absolutely must, you can get away with eating 30-50 grams per day.
The top 10 keto foods are:
- eggs
- bacon
- cheese
- olive, avocado, and coconut oil
- salmon
- steak
- cashews
- macadamia nuts
- chicken (dark meat)
- ground beef (get the one with the highest fat content)
How does the keto diet work?
It works because it does one very important thing for fat loss: Keeps your insulin levels low
As I just mentioned, when insulin is low, your body begins burning fat for energy.
But, when insulin is present, your body uses it as its preferred source of energy.
What foods trigger insulin?
Carbohydrates.
Protein can also trigger insulin if you eat too much of it, but carbohydrates trigger it the most!
That’s why the keto diet aims to keep carbohydrates extremely low and protein moderate.
The longer you keep your insulin levels low, the faster you burn fat.
Now that you know how the keto diet works, let’s discuss the benefits you’ll experience.
1) Fast fat loss
Do you need to lose 5, 10, or 100 lbs.?
Great, the keto diet will do it…FAST!
When you keep your insulin levels low all day, you give your body MAXIMUM time to burn fat.
But, if you eat carbohydrates throughout the day, you’re constantly spiking insulin and kicking your body out of fat-burning mode.
That’s why you constantly hear people on diets complain about how slow their weight-loss is.
Of course it is, you don’t give your body sufficient time to burn fat!
Stop eating carbohydrates!
Do so and you’ll quickly understand why everyone who’s doing the keto diet has the same thing to say: “The fat is melting off fast and I feel great!”
2) High energy
The energy on the keto diet is incredible!
I swear that it feels like I’m high on caffeine ALL DAY!
I have laser-like focus and feel unstoppable.
It’s not just energy, I also feel more motivated to work during times I usually don’t.
It’s weird.
It’s scary.
…But it’s amazing.
3) Better sleep
I’ve yet to research why the keto diet helps you sleep better, but I can confidently say that it does.
I use to take over 20 minutes to fall asleep and would toss and turn on most nights.
As soon as I started keto, I slept like a baby.
I know I get amazing sleep every night for two reasons:
- I wake up feeling rested and energized
- I dream a lot
Dreaming occurs in the deepest stage of sleep which is known as REM sleep.
If you’re dreaming a lot, it’s obvious that you’re getting plenty of REM sleep and rest.
Sure, I use to have dreams before starting the keto diet, but never as much as now.
4) Increased testosterone
Fats are essential for testosterone production in men.
The WORSE thing any man can do is go on a low-fat diet.
After starting keto, I noticed how much more energy and strength I had during my workouts.
This really opened my eyes because my whole life I’ve been told how I need to eat carbohydrates for energy.
Yeah, sure.
As soon as I replaced carbohydrates with fat, my energy, strength and sex drive SKYROCKETED!
I went from being a passive elephant to a vicious lion on the prowl.
5) Better moods
Before starting keto, my moods were inconsistent.
Sometimes I’d feel great and alert (usually after coffee), other times I felt tired, moody and had brain fog.
Now, I have steady energy and always feel great.
My motivation is incredible and my work ethic has doubled.
How much would increased motivation and doubling your work ethic improve your life?
Think about it…
6) Appetite suppressant
I am NEVER hungry.
As someone whose struggled with intense cravings and appetite, being able to say that I’m never hungry is priceless.
I would’ve never imagined reaching this point.
I figured that I would just have to get use to not eating every time I was hungry.
In other words, I would have to “tough it out”.
Since starting keto, my appetite is non-existent.
Why?
Because fats are extremely satiating.
When you flood your body with fats, your feel satisfied all day, even if you skip a meal.
Yes, seriously.
It’s truly an amazing thing to experience, especially if you also struggle with cravings and appetite.
Cravings and appetite occur because your body is trying to tell you something.
You see, even if you stuff yourself with food, your body will continue sending you feelings of hunger until you give it what it needs.
Haven’t you ever eaten a huge meal that lacked fat and began to feel hungry just a couple hours later?
Exactly.
You don’t need more food, my friend.
You need more FAT AND LESS CARBOHYDRATES!
7) No feeling of deprivation
Every diet I tried made me feel deprived.
I was always hungry and had intense cravings.
The longer I dieted, the more deprived I felt.
It was torture.
Can you relate?
Thanks to the keto diet, I’ve yet to have a day where I felt deprived.
I don’t count calories or measure my food, I just eat.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure a slice of pizza, ice cream, Chinese food would still taste good.
…Those are actually my favorite junk foods.
However, I don’t crave any of them.
It’s weird.
But you know what?
I’m not complaining.
8) Lifestyle, not a diet
The keto diet shouldn’t contain the word diet in its name.
It should just be “keto”.
Why?
Because a diet gives you temporary results.
Keto gives your PERMANENT results.
How many people do you know who’ve lost weight but gained it all back?
I know a couple of people including myself.
Why does this happen?
Why do diets fail?
Because they STARVE your body.
What’s the first thought in everyone’s head when they begin a diet?
“I have to eat less and buy things that are low-fat because eating fat will make me fat.”
Then, after they’ve lost the weight, they go on a huge binge to “reward themselves” and gain it all back.
Ridiculous.
The way to reward yourself is by following an eating plan that will make you feel amazing, melts fat, and eliminate ALL feelings of deprivation.
An eating planned that’s design to work best with your evolutionary biology.
Don’t take my word for it, do your own research and try it so you too can become a believer.
