How to Take Care of Your Teeth

How To Take Care of Your Teeth

I wrote an article on the best way to brush your teeth.

Taking good care of your teeth is a MUST.

If you don’t, you’re going to face pain in your mouth and pocket, later.

It’s inevitable.

Teeth need to be cared for just like a baby.

Let me tell you a story about something that happened to me and how I paid for it.

So I was around 18 years old.

Still young, stubborn, and thought I knew everything.

I went to the dentist for a routine cleaning.

He informed me that I had a cavity on a specific tooth and should get a filling asap before it got worse and required a root canal.

I decided to ignore his advice.

I didn’t have any pain and figured the cavity would just go away.

Oh what a silly little boy I was...

A couple months later, I woke up with a pain in my mouth that felt like if someone was stabbing me with a knife.

It was brutal!

An excruciating pain that I don’t wish upon anyone.

And I will do WHATEVER necessary to NEVER feel it again!

Besides the pain I went through physically, I paid a TON of money.

Even though I had insurance, a root canal is a big procedure and you still end up paying a lot out of pocket.

I have taken good care of my teeth after that day.

…and if you would have felt the pain I did, I’m sure you would have as well.

I’ve learned some important tips to keep my mouth healthy and prevent tooth decay.

Must Follow Oral Hygiene Tips

1) Brush, floss, and scrape your tongue twice daily. No excuses. Brushing is a no brainer, but flossing is skipped by most people. When you chew, food gets stuck between your teeth.

What do you think happens to food that just sits there in your mouth day after day? That’s right, it rots!…And that’s where tooth decay begins. Scraping your tongue is necessary because your tongue is like a sponge that soaks up food debris. If you don’t scrape away the debris, it results in bacteria build up and bad breath.

2) Forget mouthwash and start rinsing with Hydrogen peroxide twice a week. Hydrogen peroxide works amazing well at killing bacteria and infection in your mouth. It doesn’t taste great at first, but you get use to it. Pour some in your mouth, gargle for about 20 seconds, and rinse. Do not swallow the hydrogen peroxide.

3) Brush with baking soda twice weekly. This is a trick that’s become very popular for whitening teeth. You simply mix some making soda with water and use it as tooth paste. Brush as you would with tooth paste and rinse your mouth with water. Again, not the best tasting but HIGHLY effective. You can rinse with hydrogen peroxide and do the brushing with baking soda on the same days or separate. They key is to do them both twice a week.

Following these three steps will keep your teeth in the best condition possible resulting in minimal dental work in the future.

You should continue seeing your dentist every 6 months and schedule your deep cleanings.

However, as long as you follow these three steps, it will be unlikely that you’ll every require any BIG and EXPENSIVE dental work.

Thanks for the information. I really like your tips on how to keep your teeth clean. Like you said, it’s important to try using hydrogen peroxide. It could really save your teeth! I’m going to ask my dentist about that to verify its safety and benefits.

I totally feel like making sure you brush your teeth is super important. A lot of people think that they can brush your teeth every once in a while, and they’ll be okay. But it is important to understand that by doing that, you are making your teeth dirtier, and weaker. Making sure you brush your teeth once in the more and night, and maybe another time during the day is going to be the best way to help your dental hygiene.
