Lifting weights should be part of every man’s routine.
Unless of a physical limitation or injury, there’s no excuse.
There are countless benefits that come from lifting weights.
I’ll share what I feel are the top 10 reasons why you should start immediately.
Let’s begin!
1) You lose precious time
Every month that you don’t lift weights is a month you’ll never get back.
Ask anyone whose put it in time in the gym how much of a difference a month can make.
Stop lifting for a month and you’ll quickly lose strength and size.
Start lifting consistently for a month and the opposite will happen.
Not only will your body begin to transform, but you’ll notice how much stronger you’ve become.
One of my favorite quotes is by former basketball coach, Pat Riley:
“If you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse.”
I have my own version that pertains to lifting weights:
“If you’re not getting stronger, you’re definitely getting weaker.”
The most important days to lift weights are when you least feel like it.
By doing so, you make it a priority instead of a hobby.
Making it a priority prevents slacking off and lost of precious time.
On days that you lack the energy and motivation to lift weights, I recommend taking this pre-workout from Amazon.
Do whatever necessary to remain consistent.
No, you probably won’t look like “The Hulk” or “The Rock” in 30 days, but trust me that you’ll be happy and amazed with your results.
2) Clothes fit better
Clothes fit best when you have a well-defined physique.
Why do you think they use models in superb physical shape for ads?
The clothes fits them the way it’s suppose to.
Shopping is a lot easier when you’re fit because just about everything looks and fits great.
If you’re overweight or “skinny fat”, clothes tends to fit you tight or baggy.
Guess what?
Neither tight or baggy are good looks.
Within a few weeks of lifting weights, you’ll notice how much better you begin to look and feel in clothes.
3) Sleep like a baby
Any stress that you encounter during the day will vanish after a weightlifting session.
I’m not saying that lifting weights will make your problems go away.
What I’m saying is that you’ll be able to relax, manage stress better, and be much more likely to find a solution to your problems.
A lot of people turn to alcohol when stressed.
Instead of reaching for a drink, reach for the weights.
Drinking helps you run away from your problems, and we men don’t run from anything.
On the other hand, lifting weights helps you deal with your problems.
Drinking disrupts your sleep, while lifting weights allows you to relax and sleep like a baby.
The physical exertion that results from weightlifting makes your body crave sleep because it wants to rest and recover.
Try this: Go lift weights for an hour, take a hot shower, have some Sleepytime tea and watch how you peacefully sleep through the night like a baby.
4) Women notice you more
Women will definitely notice you more and treat you differently when you begin lifting weights.
The reasons why are obvious: You’ll look stronger, healthier and more dominant.
When it’s obvious that you lift weights, it says a lot of good things about you.
You’re motivated, disciplined, hard-working and have self-respect.
Do those qualities sound like they would be attractive to women?
Easy answer.
Besides looking and feeling better, you also carry yourself differently due the confidence boost that comes from lifting weights.
This bring me to my next point.
5) Your confidence shoots through the roof
When you begin lifting weights consistently, you make FAST progress!
First you start off with 20 lb. dumbbells.
Before you know it, you’ve moved up to the 50 lb. dumbbells.
If you dedicate yourself to lifting weights, you’ll be shocked at how quickly you make progress.
This shoots your confidence through the roof because there’s a high that comes from building physical strength.
The stronger you get, the GREATER the high.
Your physical strength quickly becomes mental strength, which motivates you to become stronger in other areas of your life.
You might become motivated to quit bad habits, find a better job, begin dating, and so on.
There are countless stories of men whose life changed after they began lifting weights.
I’m telling you, my friend, pumping iron is pure magic for your confidence.
Trust me.
6) Look great without doing cardio
Cardio?
That’s great if you’re going for that flabby “skinny fat” look.
If you want to do countless hours of cardio to look that way, by all means, go ahead.
However, if you want to get your heart pumping so you can cook calories quickly, build muscle and develop a strong, lean physique…hit the weights!
The heavier the weights, the higher your heart rate, and the faster the fat melts off.
With that said, always use caution.
Don’t lift so heavy that you risk injury.
Go ahead and challenge yourself so you can make progress, but don’t do intense jumps in weight.
If you’re bench pressing 200 lbs. this week, there’s no reason why you should try to bench press 300 lbs. next week.
You follow me?
A little progress each week quickly adds up to BIG results.
7) Quick progress
If you haven’t lifted weights in a long time, or if this is your first session, one thing is likely…
You’re going to feel sore tomorrow.
Be proud of this feeling because it’s proof that you had a great workout.
Great workouts are what lead to muscle growth and physique transformations.
Make sure you eat plenty of protein and get 7-8 hours sleep to help your muscles recover and grow.
If you do this consistently, you’re guaranteed to make progress.
I recommend taking weekly pictures so you can see how quickly your body begins improving.
8) Energy
Lifting weights provides you an indescribable feeling.
You experience what’s referred to as “the pump”, and boy is it addictive!
What exactly is the pump?
It’s when a ton of blood rushes into your muscles and fills them up making you look and feel bigger than you normally are.
This moment is accompanied by a surge of energy.
It’s an indescribable feeling that every man must experience.
Once the pump kicks in, you’re in a different zone.
You’re instantly filled with courage, motivation, willpower, and receive stares from the pretty ladies on the stair master machines.
In essence…You feel ALIVE!!!
9) Gives you purpose
Lifting weights gives you a reason to get out of bed in the morning.
Everything could be going wrong in your life, but just knowing that you’re going to have a great workout, and experience “the pump”, gives your day purpose.
As I mentioned in #5 above, lifting weights increases your self-confidence.
The higher your self-confidence, the more you belief in yourself and the more action you take.
The more action you take, the more you achieve and the more purpose you give your life.
…It all begins with lifting weights.
10) Discipline
Last but not least is discipline.
Discipline is so important to a man’s success that I even wrote a whole book about it.
What makes it so powerful?
It guarantees your success.
You will never change or improve your life until you make the commitment to develop discipline.
Why do you think that the Army and the Navy enforce it?
Because discipline turns delicate boys into iron men.
Men who don’t develop discipline choose shortcuts for everything in life.
They always follow the path of least resistance.
As a result, they never experience true happiness and satisfaction.
Developing discipline is one of the most, if not the most, important character traits every man MUST have.
It’s impossible to become a responsible, respectable and reliable man without it.
So what does discipline have to do with lifting weights?
Everything!
In order to be consistent in the gym and make progress, you must discipline yourself to go.
When you begin to see the results that come from disciplining yourself to lift weights, you realize just how powerful discipline is.
This leads you to disciplining yourself to become stronger not just physically, but mentally as well.
As an example, you can discipline yourself to study a specific skill.
Like Brian Tracy says:
“You’re probably only one skill away from doubling your income.”
It’s impossible to learn a new skill without disciplining yourself to study.
Wouldn’t you go agree?
The moral of the story, my friend, is to start lifting weights so you can watch everything in your life slowly fall into place.
You’ll see.
